Yes and it can be: Yes when you have a ruptured appendix you can get the infection spread through your blood stream.But we do treat it with antibiotics to cure it most of the time at surgery we can take the cultures and use the appropriate antibiotics to cure the infection.

Yes.: When the appendix ruptures (bursts) the contents of the sac spill into the abdominal cavity. Sometimes this makes patients feel better, but it is only temporary. Bacteria and their toxic products floating free in the abdomen is a life threatening emergency requiring immediate surgery to prevent widespread infection - including the bloodstream.

Not the biggest : Problem. If the appendix bursts, the infection inside the appendix spreads out inside the abdominal cavity called the peritoneum. That's where the problem occurs, not so much with the infection in the blood stream but some of the infections goes there. Burst appendix can still be treated surgically by removing as much of the diseased tissue, but it is more involved surgery and longer recovery.
