Just started flossing again and my gums have swollen a lot. how do i get the swelling down?

Swelling gums: You possible dislodged tarter or "something" deeper into the gums. I'd try a water pic with a diluted salt rinse. If its been awhile you would certainly benefit from having them professionally cleaned.
