SS Band allergy?: It's more likely physical irritation and plaque accumulation although some individual may have a soft tissue reaction to foreign materials such as stainless steel bands. This should be discussed with your Orthodontist who can determine what's going on in your particular case and make suggestions and\or modifications if necessary.

Possible allergy: There are several different types of dental brackets. Brackets are composed of composites of different metals including silver, nickel, gold, copper, magnesium etc. Allergy to can cause swelling and inflammation. You should talk with your orthodontist about which type of dental bracket was used.
