See your dentist.: The excess gum should be removed and the cavity filled. If the tooth is too far gone to save, have it removed.

Dental cavity: If the cavity is too large your might need your tooth extracted. If it is smaller then you might need a filling or root canal and crown. This happens, go see a dentist before you get pain or infection.

Hyperplasia: If you have gum tissue growing into dental decay, it means you have a pretty large cavity. The tooth needs to be evaluated to determine if it is even restorable. If it is, the gum tissue can be trimmed away and the tooth restored. See a local dentist for further advice....

Inflammatory tissue: and it's not a big deal. What you describe happens quite commonly and regardless of the gum tissue growing, the cavity must be repaired to solve this problem.

Need evaluation: Have the dentist evaluate the tooth. Sometimes the overgrown gingiva can be removed with a laser or a periodontal procedure called crown lengthening if it is needed. This is usually a large cavity if the gum tissue has grown in to the space and needs to be evaluated for its viability long term prior to any procedure.
