A member asked:

I'm wondering how long is it going to take to get used to retainers?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not long: When worn exactly as directed, a few days (teens) to a few weeks (adults). The more retainers are worn, the less time the retainers are out of the mouth, the less destabilization of the treatment result, the sooner the patient gets used to them. Look for reasons to put retainers in rather than excuses to take them out. If you feel there are "fit" problems, call your orthodontic specialist now.
