No time frame: There is no specific time frame for symptoms to be present to be diagnosed according to the "dsm" (diagnostic and statistical manual) or the "icd" (international classification of diseases). Some specific diagnoses have time frames associated with them, but in general the duration of symptoms does not play a critical role in defining the diagnosis itself.
