Need research...: I have not come across any professional articles that relate to your question, but yours is a good hypothesis to challenge. While milk may dilute the color but the same amount of particles; it also creates thicker film on teeth. Casein, a protein in milk, binds well to tooth structure. If you want to find a way to enjoy your tea without much staining, follow with water and brush soon after, too.
