Dental/Medical: Most omfs (oral maxillo-facial surgeons) are accepted in an oral surgery specialty program after completing their dental school education. Other omfs doctors may have moved into this specialty program as a surgical specialty after completing medical school education. While all treat any facial surgeries, this type of background diversity helps serving various patients' needs more comprehensively.

Both , for some: Some OMFS programs offer dual degree. Instead of the usual 4 yr program, the programs are 6 yrs, where in the middle they sent the residents to medical school , so if you see a dentist with DDS/MD or DMD/MD, thats likely happened...
