Many: You should have a good reason for doing this. Know that the composites historically will not last as long. Also, they are much more technically demanding to optimally place and shape. The skill and up-to-date education of the dentist is more critical. You will be traumatizing the tooth in the process of removing the old filling. Composites look nicer and help bond the tooth together. Good luck.

Why: If your silver fillings and your teeth are healthy and intact, the best treatment is to leave them alone. If you are esthetic ally disturbed or. If restorations are failing, then replace them.

More attractive: Restorations with composites create a tooth-colored filling that blends in with other teeth, avoiding the harsh and unattractive appearance of metal. Composites bond to the tooth and strengthen it and are more conservative.
