Careful...!: Listerine may help you reduce bacteria in your mouth by killing oral bacteria. The company's advertisement claims 99% (may have been 99.9%) "germs" to be killed. This has been misleading to general public, as bacteria survive well by making a complex of colonies, outer germs protecting inner ones. Oral sex transmits not only bacteria but also viruses and fungi. You are not safe from all others!

Don't expect using: Listerine after the fact to protect you from becoming infected with a sexually transmitted disease. Abstinence is the only sure way not to get an infection. Protection can also be used with oral sex. Oral sex has potential to transmit a number of sti's. Herpes simplex, hiv, hpv, gonorrhea, chlamydia, syphilis ; hepatitis can be spread via oral sex.
