Ouch!!: Listerine contains alcohol which should never be applied to your eyelid!

Stye / Infection: See an eye doctor. Ophthalmic antibiotic ointments or oral antibiotics are used to treat eyelid infections. Alchohol (found in listerine) is an antiseptic, which could be used prior to surgery to prevent infection. Alchohol is very irritating to eyelid skin and to the eye itself. Further, many styes are not infected at all; an oil gland is obstructed and the oil material is trapped in the lid.
