A member asked:

I am getting a lumbar puncture done tomorrow, what can i expect? and why is a radiologist doing it instead of my neurologist?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Don't worry: A lumbar puncture is a common diagnostic test. In your case, it appears that the radiologist has been consulted to perform the study using fluoroscopy ( x-ray guidance ) which should allow it to go smoothly by visualizing the anatomy and guiding the placement of the needle.
