Tonsillitis or sst: Is this your first time to have this? Look into a mirror and check your tonsils: if inflamed with spots of pus: tonsillitis and you may need antibiotics . If septic sore throat you also need antibiotics for 10 days. Do see an ear nose throat specialist asap. In the meantime gargle with warm salt solution or listerine and use antiseptic lozenges such as cepacol.
