Is it possible to have a normal dental checkup with no cavities and then 6 months later you need a root canal?

Diagnosis: Yes. Unfortunately this can occur. Like any other part of your body, infection or inflammation can occur. The best advice would be to be proactive and have the treatment soon.

Not a simple answer!: It is possible: 1. Perfectly health teeth can hairline fractures into the pulp just from chewing. 2. Teeth that may have been previously restored with a large filling near or on the pulp may stay stable for years then leak and re-decay or just take a turn for the worse. 3. Root decay in aging baby boomers can go from "zero to sixty" from med changes. 4. Oops, something large missed last visit!
