HFMD: Caused by viruses of the picornaviridae family. The most common are coxsackie virus a16 and enterovirus 71 as well as by strains of coxsackievirus or enterovirus. Hfmd is common and highly contagious and typically causes a mild, self-limited febrile illness followed by a maculopapular rash that may involve the skin of hands, feet and oral cavity. Usually in children it can also infect adults.

Due to immunity : You did not have immunity developed for the virus and contracted it. It typically will run its course. Follow up with your primary md if symptoms are severe or prolonged.

Hand foot and mouth : oot and mouth disease (HFMD)? HFMD most commonly affects children under 10 years of age. Older children and adults are sometimes affected if they don’t have immunity . Adults and older children with HFMD tend to develop a milder form of the illness compared with younger children. But adults can sometimes have quite severe symptoms.
