Good Question!: Ask yourself this one. You may have the answer. You just told me that your doctor examined you and found nothing obviously physically wrong. Unresolved conflict leads to a depletion of serotonin in the brain. The body then needs to use the next most available chemical messenger called norepinephrine. This is similar to adrenaline. Need more info: The differential diagnosis is broad but the most common cause is generalized anxiety disorder. I try to explain to my patients that it is impossible be happy when you worry about something that doesn't occur. If it is generalized anxiety disorder there is frequently a family history. The best treatment is a combination of behavior modification and anxiolytics if needed. Good luck and well wishes.
