What's the difference between an obsession and liking someone a lot?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Degree and Impact: There is a fine line between liking someone a lot and an obsession. When the time you spend becomes excessive, it interferes with other things you need to accomplish, then you begin to cross over the line from a lot to obsession. It is the amount of time and the negative impact the thinking results in that defines an obsession.
