It depends: Serious acne in a woman suggests excess androgens especially if the monthly cycle isn't as it is for most women. Any general physician knows how to do this workup. A man between age 12 and age 96 or so is probably maxed out on testosterone, and whether or not he has acne says nothing about his hornomal milieu -- ask about sexual functioning instead.
