Underlying problem: Treatment of calcinosis cutis is limited and of variable benefit. The underlying problem needs to be identified and corrected. It is not life threatening, although the underlying problem might be. You may be confusing this with calciphylaxis, which is a medical emergency that has to be addressed immediately.
