Interesting: Great strides have been made in the treatment of cleft lip and palate. Suggest a visit and consult with a maxillofacial oral surgeon to evaluate and treat.

Equal: No more or less so than child without cleft. Recommend having your child evaluated by cleft palate team at the closest children's hospital. May be a bit of a trip, but worth it for the expertise and the team (pediatrician, pediatric dentist, orthodontist, speech therapist, plastic surgeon, oral surgeon, psychiatrist, nutritionist, etc) approach.
