See below: Leukemia is generally not hereditary but having a first degree relative with leukemia may slightly increase your risk. The chances are still very small. There are however very rare situations of hereditary leukemia, for example, familial platelet disorder with associated myeloid malignancy (fpdmm) due to mutations in the runx1 gene, or cases of familial multiple myeloma.
