Brown line on gums: Hard to tell by your description.....But a usual cause of gum discoloration that you describe, is due to needing a cleaning bad! visit your dentist for an evaluation. Discolored gums can indicate some other serious conditions, so dont fool around.... Get to the dentist asap.

Go see your dentist: Sounds like your dentist will need an xray to see what is going on below the gum.
