See below: Get a second opinion if unsure. It is possible that epidural steroids, or minimally invasive disc surgery may be options to consider before doing a full replacement of disc, or neck fusion.

Shoulder pain: Disc surgery is based on how serious the pain is and if you are having weakness (which is sounds like you are not) the the urgency for surgery is high. If you can tolerate the pain and the hand strength is good then the timing of surgery is your call.
