Probably safe: Ibuprofen can increase the risk for bleeding in certain folks and Effexor (venlafaxine) may potentially that effect. It's likely very safe if you follow the instructions in the bottle and only take it for short periods of time, but if you find yourself needing it for a prolonged period of time, please talk to your doctor.

Most likely okay: These two medications should be okay together. There is some basic science that would suggest that there is a possibility that by dampening down inflammation Ibuprofen could weaken the antidepressant effect of venlafaxine. Additionally, there is thought to be changes in bleeding parameters that accompany the administration of NSAID medications that may be increased by venlafaxine.
