Tarsal tunnel pain: This sounds like classic nerve pain/neuralgia. Must rule out tarsal tunnel or nerve entrapment/ compression syndrome and neuroma. Possible nerve pinching in lower spine as well. Some nerve testing can define severity. Injections with anesthetic may relieve pain. Seek podiatrist for care for this problem.

Nerve inpingment: Possible nerve impingement to your foot. You may need further diagnostic testing to confirm. Medications may help relieve the symptoms of numbness and shooting pain, but you may need surgery if nonsurgical treatments fail.

Neuroma: The symptoms you describe sound like a neuroma, which is an enlargement of the nerve between the metatarsals (the bones behind the toes). When it gets swollen it gets squished between the bones and causes a stinging pain along with numbness. There are many treatments that can help including cortisone to help shrink the neuroma. See a podiatrist in your area, they can help :).
