Not usually: Botox in the usual therapeutical doses has little side effects although there have been headaches reported after Botox injections. As for acupuncture I have no idea although i suspect that any benefit if at all would be very temporary.

Safe: In the trials on cervical dystonia the incidence of neck pain was 9% which represented the most common side effect. I don't know of any literature to support the long-term use of acupuncture. You can consider a trial of sinemet (carbidopa and levodopa) in case you have Dopamine responsive dystonia. Good luck and well wishes.

Very safe: Very safe in the hands of a skilled doc. Make sure you see a facial plastic surgeon. Acupuncture may or may not help. No harm trying.

Safe and effective: Patients with cervical dystonia experience a reduction in neck pain, abnormal head positioning, neck stiffness, and tremor. The injections can occasionally cause mild trouble swallowing.
