A member asked:

Is it possible for you to have a pain in your shoulder blades when you have a kidney infection?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Unlikely: Nerves do span great distances, so referred pain can happen. Pain in the shoulder blades can be referred pain from irritated nerves. Nerves from the diaphragm can cause pain around the shoulder blades. The kidneys are not far, but not that close to the diaphragm. If the inflammation is large and there is kidney swelling as well, it could be possible, but unlikely.
