Hello docs. i was wondering can trazodone and amtriptyline be taken together?

Must be monitored: Right it is possible to use both of them together. However a degree of caution should be exercised. It is possible for the combination to cause serotonin syndrome, which although rare, can occur and should be explained to you by your prescribing physician. Another risk is the prolongation of your qtc interval which can be monitored by serial ekg's. This should be addressed with your prescribing physician.

Trazodone/Elavil: If low dose, as prescribed, should be ok if you can tolerate some sedation.
