Gallbladder pain: Typically gallbladder pain is in the upper right quadrant of your abdomen but when referred to the shoulder this may be felt in the shoulder blade.

Referred pain: Right-shoulder pain due to the liver has been described as: achy, constant, changes with breathing, sharp. In one study, patients that underwent liver biopsy had more pain referred to the r-shoulder than localized right upper abdominal quadrant pain. They concluded that r-shoulder pain is likely to be a viscerosomatic referred pain, rather than a reflection of complication such as bleeding.
