Borborygmus is the : medical term for a rumbling sound made by propulsion of intestinal contents by peristalsis,smooth muscle contractions. It occurs in anyone 2 hours or > after a meal as a sign of hunger, in people who swallow air while eating & in people with various digestive disorders. A large meal increases borborygmi (plural) in folks with Irritable Bowel Syndrome. Best not overeat to avoid obesity.
