Sometimes: Sometimes overweight people of both genders do the insanity workouts. They do need to be mindful of the shape their bodies are in, and build up stamina gradually. There's a reason it's called "insanity." insane to expect to complete the entire workout at the speed shown on the videos, from the very first time. :-).

Sure, but...: If you've never exercised before, I wouldn't start right off with the Insanity plan. Start with a lighter level of exercise, and escalate the intensity as it gets easier. Start with brisk walking, stationary biking or lighter aerobics classes.
