Is it possible that alcoholism damage your gallbladder?

Not likely: Alcoholism does damage the liver but does not have any direct effect on the gallbladder. Certainly alcoholics can develop gallbladder disease but it is not directly due to alcohol.

Complex issue: Some evidence shows that drinking alcohol may actually reduce incidence of gallstones. http://tinyurl.com/mmze7ls however, if you also have pancreatitis, alcoholism may worsen that along with causing liver disease -- and liver disease can encourage gallstone formation. Also, some data connects alcohol, gallstones, and cholecystitis: http://tinyurl.Com/n6c8hmc things are very much interdependent!
