Many variables: Many different factors contribute to the heart rate in recovery after exercise: the normal resting (pre-exercise) heart rate, the intensity and duration of exercise, the hydration status after exercise, and the conditioning level of the subject. In general, the heart rate should have returned close to the baseline heart rate 10 minutes after moderate exercise, but this is not always true.
