Move, go to school: Being a substance abuse counselor is a highly stressful, thankless, but highly needed occupation. You are no doubt burned out. Try night school classes, take a lengthy vacation and consider moving to a new location. Your effectiveness as a counselor is bound to suffer if you are unhappy. But many options exist if you take a stab at them.
