Get a diagnosis: First step is to get a diagnosis. You might see a sports medicine physician, or a physiatrist. One possibility is "piriformis syndrome", which is a muscle pain in the buttock that can cause radiating leg pain. Physical therapy with specific stretching and strengthening is paramount at correcting the weakness that contributes to the pain. Occasionally an injection can help it settle down.
