Not too fast: These tumors have spread beyond the primary site in about one third. However, correcting water and electrolyte balance is usually a more urgent issue. See this site for more info.

It Can Be Fast: 60-80% of vipomas are malignant and have metastasized by the time of diagnosis. Diagnosis usually takes years because of the insidious onset. They are also associated with men-1 (multiple endocrine neoplasm) syndrome, which is associated with other cancers of the pituitary and parathyroid glands.
