Valerian: Valerian grows in many countries, including africa -- but i would not recommend bringing back the raw herb for personal use. You need a reliable resource that knows how to clean it and extract components in a standardized way. There are many excellent herbal companies in the us and europe who provide reliable, uncontaminated products. Heavy metals can be a concern with some raw herbs.

I might be a little: Apprehensive about that. In countries like germany, supplements ; herbals are well regulated. But if you were just purchasing from a merchant - would the product be free of contaminants? Would the product be what it is advertised to be? Would the dosing be accurate? Although I have lived in 3rd world countries - i would not be willing personally to take on that risk? Would it get through customs ?
