A member asked:

Is there any sleep aid you can recommend during the first trimester of pregnancy for severe insomnia that doesn't respond to good sleep hygiene?

Benadryl (diphenhydramine): Please check with your OB physician, but Benadryl (diphenhydramine) is generally considered safe. It appears you may already be taking this. Your doctor may want to check further into the possible causes of your "severe insomnia" also. Consultation with a psychiatrist or sleep medicine physician could be in order.
