Normal variation: This is a process that seems to involve all babies to some degree and tends to peak around 4 months. As they begin to sin and stand it fades. It is a frustrating process but so common i wouldn't spent a lot of time worrying about copy cats. If the kid spits the same on normal as hypoallergenic formula i would consider going back to the cheeper stuff.

GER: As long as your baby is free of complication, e.g., chest congestion , poor weight gain, excessive crying with arching back posture, he is merely a "happy spitter." trial of thickened feeding, adding cereal, one tablespoon per oz of formula, could reduce amount of vomiting.
