Anatomy description: Vidian canal is a short bony tunnel seen close to the floor of sphenoid sinus. It transmits the vidian nerve and vidian vessels from the foramen lacerum to the pterygopalatine fossa. Ct appearance of vidian canal protruding into the floor of sphenoid sinus is just an anatomical description of anatomic variation and not an abnormality! this anatomic variation by itself will not cause any symptoms!
