Root canal Rx: Antibiotics don't cure infected teeth, just control severity of infection until root canal treatment can be completed. If antibiotic required, your endodontic specialists has many others to choose from. Root canal filling material is not made from antibiotics.

Yes: Antibiotics are sometimes given orally to decrease infection or prevent a flareup when root canals are performed. The materials used in root canals are not antibiotics, are internal of the tooth, and are not a problem for you.
