Internal derangement: Sounds like a significant injury to the structures of an around your ankle. A thorough evaluation with x-rays and probably an MRI or ct scan may be necessary to determine what is wrong.

Several things: He may do physical therapy, he may inject it or may prescribe a brace. It depends what they find on examination.
