Each of us is : Somewhat unique in how we deal with stressors. Crying is cathartic. Expectations in our society have been perpetuated that it is not ok for females to act angry. Thus when catharsis is needed a woman may cry instead of expressing anger. Likewise, the stereotype for men was that they shouldn't cry - thus anger was a more acceptable option for males. The crying allows to express feelings.
