Yes, probably.: Intralesional steroid injections are pretty much the only thing that is effective for alopecia areata, because the steroid has to get down to the level of the hair roots to have a beneficial effect, and topical steroids don't get down there. Given enough time the hair will usually grow back by itself, eventually, but it will take a long time; steroid injections speed things up considerably.
