Should i send my child to school with an earache?

Depends on the pain: An earache can be caused by several reasons: an middle ear infection, an external ear infection, a blocked eustachian tube, etc. They can lead to significant pain. It is important to have the ear checked if the pain persists or is associated with other symptoms. As ear infections are not contagious, it is ok for your child to go to school as long as the pain is not too distracting.

Probably OK: Ear infections are not contagious. If over the counter pain medicine gives relief going to school would be fine. If pain increases, hearing decreases, or develops drainage from ear should be seen by primary care provider.
