Not To Worry: The scanners use microwaves or very low energy x-rays which cannot penetrate into the body. There would be no exposure to the fetus. Your friend will get more exposure on the flight to india because the airplane will be above a substantial portion of the atmosphere which would normally block some of the cosmic background radiation! still not dangerous.
