Not routinely: If she has been taking oxycodone regularly it is very important that she alert the doctors. A baby can withdraw from the drug when it is born if mom has been on the medication.

Some hospitals are: Some hospitals are now testing ALL women at the time of admission to see if they or baby have been exposed to anything and/or are at risk for withdrawal symptoms. If the mom tests positive for anything, then the baby is tested by urine, meconium or cord samples to determine if at risk for problems or withdrawal. It is far better to be up front and honest with the doc for both sakes.
