A member asked:

What is the cause of a low total leukocyte count and how do you get it back to normal?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low WBC: Low white blood count can be a variant of normal. The normals on a lab report are based on a "bell shaped curve" of normal. Many, especially those with ancestry from the mediterranean region, have a lower white count (~3.0-3.9). If you have lupus or other autoimmune conditions, or if you get frequent infections, the low count may be significant. Please see an md with your result for eval.
