Cough: It's unlikely that your symptoms are related to the strep throat. More common would be a viral infection you picked up in addition to the strep or asthma. If it's reached the point where you are feeling pain, you should have a doctor examine you, with extra attention paid to your lungs.

Another issue: Unfortunately, antibiotic use does not protect you from the many viral respiratory germs that pass easily in public. It would also not prevent a resistant bacteria from moving in after the susceptible germs were killed off.Handle the illness as you would any other and seek out care if the symptoms continue to get worse.
