No: Minoxidil's use to help hair growth was accidentally discovered. It was initially only used as an anti-hypertensive but then was discovered that patient's also had increased hair growth. It is thought that it dilates the vessels in the skin and increases the nutrient delivery to the hair follicles to help hair growth. It should not cause hair loss for you wife.
